Application deadline for all listed positions:  Friday, August 10, 2018, 11:59 PM EDT. Late applications will not be accepted. This is a volunteer student position. All members of the Executive Team are expected to attend bi-weekly meetings, lead their respective branches, and fulfill their roles as outlined in the CivicSpark Constitution.

Director of External Affairs

Director of External Affairs will be responsible for maintaining CivicSpark's current relationships with its partners on and off campus, as well as fostering new partnerships. You will aid in keeping our partners up-to-date with our our initiatives and seeking possible synergies and collaborations. Ideal candidates are organized, team players with advance interpersonal skills.

Director of External Affair will be expected to:

  • Report to Executive Director
  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the External Affairs Branch
  • Responsible for liaising, and attending meetings of, CivicAction, UTSU, Ulife, Career Centre, and the Centre for Community Partnerships
  • Responsible for creating new partnerships on and off campus 
  • Work together with the Director of Communications to market events, specifically to students in other post-secondary institutions 
  • Work together with the Director of Research in reaching out to an organization to develop a real live case

Director of Communications

The Director of Communications will spearhead and develop the annual communication strategy. They will be responsible for leading a team that will communicate CivicSpark's messages to the public through our website and social media platforms.  Ideal candidates should be organized, creative, and interested in developing new skills.

Director of Communication will be expected to:

  • Report to Executive Director
  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the Communications Branch
  • Responsible for creating a communication strategy for the 2018-2019 year
  • Responsible for managing and creating all website and social media content 
  • Manage competition related questions (by email or through social media)
  • Work with the Director of External Affairs to market events specifically to University of Toronto Students
  • Utilize graphic design to develop promotional materials
  • Ensure photos are taken at events as needed

Director of Finance

Director of Finance will be responsible for CivicSpark's finances. This includes keeping track of expenses and income and formulating business strategies. Ideal candidates are organized, driven, and interested in improving their skills in fundraising and locating sponsorships.

Director of Finance will be expected to:

  • Report to Executive Director
  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the Finance Branch
  • Development of the budget for the 2018-2019 year
  • Will be a signatory on bank account, and keep record or receipts, file bi-monthly expense report to the rest of the executive committee
  • Creation of sponsorship packages and establishing business partnerships
  • Comply with UTSU, and ULife funding requirements.
  • Apply for funding throughout the year
  • Work with Director of Logistics to ensure all items are purchased in a cost-effective manner

Director of Logistics

Director of Logistics will be responsible for  efficiently and effectively planning the events of the year, including the Case Competition.This includes coordinating the production of event materials, developing high level agendas, and organizing volunteers. Ideal candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and have experience planning events.

Director of Logistics will be expected to:

  • Report to Executive Director
  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the Logistics Branch
  • Ensure the venues are booked for all events hosted by CivicSpark
  • Creates the logistical schedule for all events hosted by CivicSpark - in other words making sure everything runs smoothly 
  • Coordinates the production of event materials, including pens, lanyards, and other administrative supplies
  • Develops the volunteer structure for events and ensures all members understand their responsibilities 
  • Works with Director of Communication to ensure registration is full at all events
  • Work with Director of Finance to ensure all items are purchased in a cost-effective manner

Director of Research

Director of Research will be expected to research and develop the content and materials for the Case Competition. This includes ensuring the content is up-to-date, clear, concise and presentable to participants and judges.

Director of Research will be expected to:

  • Report to Executive Director
  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the Research Branch
  • Create a Faculty Advisory Board responsible for reviewing and advising the cases 
  • Researching and formulating the case materials necessary for Ace the Case, and the Case Competition at the end of the year
  • Producing a rubric/scoreboard for Judges
  • Inviting emerging and/or senior leaders to sit in on judging panels for the day of the competition 
  • Work with the Director of External Affairs in reaching out to an organization to develop a real live case

Director of Research candidates must also send in a piece of their writing to be considered for the position.
