We are happy to announce that CivicSpark is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 team. CivicSpark provides a platform that empowers young people to engage with real policy issues in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area. In collaboration with CivicAction Leadership Foundation, CivicSpark hosts the only undergraduate public policy case competition in the country.

The deadline for applications is Saturday, April 20th, 11:59PM. Late applications will not be accepted.

We’re looking for candidates interested in the following portfolios

Research Team

The Research team is responsible for research and formulating the case materials necessary for the Ace the Case event, and the Case Competition at the end of the year. This includes ensuring the content of the case is up-to-date, clear, concise and presentable to participants and judges. Candidates should have a passion for urban issues and have experience researching and producing reports. The Research team will also be responsible for collecting input and feedback from experts from the not-for-profit, public, and private sector. The following positions are available:

Logistics Team

The Logistics team is responsible for effectively and efficiently planning the events of the year, including the Case Competition and Ace the Case. This includes organizing facilities and managing all case competition details such as décor, catering, transportation, location, and ensuring all relevant parties are kept informed and up-to-date. The Logistics team is responsible for ensuring the competition is organized and exciting for participants. The following positions are available:

Social Media and Communications Team

The Social Media and Communications team will be responsible for developing and implementing our social media strategy in order to increase CivicSpark’s online presence on undergraduate campuses across Ontario. They will establish the most relevant social media KPIs and manage and oversee CivicSpark’s social media content. The following positions are available:

Outreach and Partnerships Team

The Outreach and Partnerships team is responsible for building relationships with professors, university administrators, and other stakeholders throughout the province in order to promote the case competition and register potential participants. They will identify suitable speakers and judges to participate in the Case Competition as well as develop strategic partnerships with campus groups and other organizations. The following positions are available:

Internal Affairs Team

The Internal Affairs team is responsible for the internal management of CivicSpark, including human resource management, organizing executive team meetings and coordinating team socials. They will be responsible for ensuring other executives are meeting deadlines and maintaining the master calendar for the year. The following positions are available:

Fundraising and Sponsorship Team

The Fundraising and Sponsorship team is responsible for meeting fundraising strategy targets, timelines and income projections, develop public fundraising opportunities and activities, and research, identify and manage small-mid donations from trusts, foundations, institutional funders, governments, corporate and private donors. It also includes researching new philanthropic foundations and maintaining CivicSpark’s database of fundraising contracts. The following positions are available:
